The Saved Book

If I had to save one book for future generations, I would definitely choose a suspense novel titled "Shattering Glass" written by Gail Giles.  My friend Jessi Enochs showed me this book and told me that I needed to read it.  The book is so full of action and twists that it keeps you wondering the entire time.  The very first paragraph of the book tells the ending of the storyline, but you don't know that at first.  It is a teenage book and I like being able to relate myself to it.  It's about a group of high school boys that help a nerd to become popular by teaching him how to dress, get girls, walk, and be the total package that any girl wants.  But Simon, the nerd, has a reason for letting them do this to him.  He wants to sabotage them and looks through files to find out that one of the boys messes with his father in dirty ways and likes it.  Simon tells the entire school this during prom.  So the posse of boys take Simon away from everyone else and beats him to death with a baseball bat.  It is such a sad ending and makes you feel bad for poor Simon because of the way it is written.  It is as if it throws you into the story.  This is one reason why I liked this book so much.  I mean, how could you not like an action packed book with twists and turns and throws you into the story like you are there?  If you don't like this, you are crazy.  I have read this book more than once and would recommend it to anyone in their earlier years.  It really makes you think how problems can escalate into a pure killing of an innocent teenage boy.  I believe that it may help teenagers survive peer pressure and to find different ways of handling bad situations.  Only good can come out of this book with life lessons and a heart for Simon.  Love it!

Howlin' Halloween

What a fun and festive holiday.  Everyone gets all dressed up and then gets candy.  What's not to like?  I love it because it's very festive and fun and brings people together.   Its also a really fun time for kids.  When I was little, I was a cow, M&M, bunny, Dorothy on The Wizard of Oz, Tinkerbell, and many other things.  This past year's Halloween, I was a clown.  I went to our elementary school and helped out in my costume which was really fun.  There is nothing that I really dislike about Halloween.  A fond memory was last year my friend, Lauryn, and I got all dressed up and she came out in scrubs and a pig nose.  She was the Swine Flu.  It was absolutely hilarious.  Another memory was when I helped out at the elementary school, all of the teachers dressed up.  One was Fancy Nancy, another one a cowgirl, a zoo keeper, and many other fun characters.  The kids were also festive for the holiday.  They were dressed as princesses, mummies, Power Rangers, The Hulk, kitty cats, cheerleaders, and other crazy creatures.  This was a really fun day, especially since we got Pumpkin shaped cookies!  Halloween will always be a holiday that I like, no matter how old I am.  I could see myself in a retirement home when I get old and rolling out of my room in a crazy costume on Halloween!  Now this would be a site to see!

Changing WSU

I actually have came to hate Wright State.  One reason being that my hometown school was so small, that coming to a big school was just too much.  I hate how big some of my classes are, especially Psychology and History.  Psychology contains between 300-400 and History contains 200 or so.  I am so out of my element in these classes which makes it hard for me to learn.  Also, even though the dorm life is okay, it is so hard for me to concentrate and get my homework done.  I did my homework back at my house once and got done at least an hour earlier.  Another thing that aggravates me about Wright State is the violence.  So far, I have seen a man get jumped, many fist fights, and drug deals.  I also get lots of e-mails about people being held at gunpoint and robbed and cars broken in to.  This is just no the place for me.  I need smaller and more one-on-one attention when it comes to academics.
